Keeping your supply fresh – use and replace

Preparing · Updated:

A supply is not a treasure buried in the cellar. It works best as part of everyday life: you eat what you like anyway, and buy it again.

Storing it well

The Austrian Civil Protection Association advises a storage place that is dry, cool and well ventilated. Even the best supplies spoil quickly when stored badly. Watch out for pests such as mice, beetles, moths and mites.

Check regularly

Food has an expiry date. A fixed date helps – for example the first Saturday in October, when Austria holds its civil protection test alarm, or when the clocks change.

Oldest first

  • New purchases go to the back, older ones to the front.
  • What expires soon goes on the menu.
  • What you used goes on the shopping list.

With Vorrio

The shelf in Vorrio lists all entries by expiry date – what expires first is at the top. When you open the app, you see if something expires soon. And when you have used something, one tap removes it.

In an emergency, always follow the instructions of the authorities and emergency services.
